The Department of Registry within the Ministry of Justice

Within the Ministry of Justice, I work in the Department of Registry. This department oversees the Registry Center for Property as well as the Registry Center for Legal Entities. The two main registry centers oversee the local registry centers and work in conjuction with notaries to register legal entities or property. In terms of Property registry, there is one main registry center, and 15 affiliated local centers spread throughout Lithuania.

What are they registering?

1. real estate/property "nekilnojamas turtas"- directly translated "not liftable stuff". This is any building or any property.
This also includes a cadastre "kadastras" or map of property lines and the layout of the building.

2. legal entities: This includes businesses, corporations, political parties, religious groups, non-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, public institutions, private institutions...

The Department of Registry in the Ministry of Justice oversees the legal order of the Registry Centers. It draws the parameters, institutes the laws and acts, oversees the fluidity and transparency, and handles the troubleshooting for all of the lower Registry Centers and affiliates throughout Lithuania.
